Who are the big cloud suppliers?

Right now, on the market there is quite a few different providers of cloud services. To source the correct cloud provider from the various cloud suppliers, one needs to understand the market out there.
The market size at the end of 2023 was around 74 billion USD and is expected to grow over the next years as more and more companies migrate the workload onto the cloud. Mainly due to benefits of ease to use, scale, management, and low cost offered by different cloud suppliers.
The biggest cloud providers are Amazon with AWS, Microsoft with Azure, and Google with GCP. Together these major cloud suppliers make up for 66% of the market.
The biggest player out of all is AWS with 31% market share compared to Microsoft’s 24%. Microsoft edged closer to AWS during the last year. Making the competition fierce between these cloud suppliers, leaving Google with 11% overall market dominance.
Some of the minor players out there would be Alibaba, Salesforce, Oracle, and Tencent. Who overall are strong players in their own niches with Salesforce CRM and Oracle Databases, but struggle for traction as main cloud suppliers.
In general there are many reasons to go with certain cloud vendors, however what is more important than dominance is the overall fit to you and future directions of trends when selecting your cloud suppliers.
